Celebrating Life

Planning for the inevitable…

Sometimes it can be comforting to know that plans for your own Celebration of Life are taken care of so you can be sure of the ceremony given. It can also be a great comfort to those friends and family you leave behind, knowing that you will be receiving a send-off of your choosing.

Unlike a typical funeral celebrant, my passion is to help my clients prepare for the eventuality of their own passing and the celebration of their death.

If you are looking for compassion, integrity, and professionalism to guide and support you during the preparation of a funeral service for yourself or perhaps a loved one, then I can assure you that you are in the right place.

As your celebrant, from the outset I promise to help you through the planning and eventual delivery of a bespoke and meaningful ceremony. A true tribute, whether for a funeral, a memorial or perhaps the interment of ashes.

Together we will connect wonderful memories and stories with poems, music, and readings to celebrate the life of you or a loved one.

How it all happens

After being catapulted into the planning of a funeral for a very dear friend after his sudden death, I didn’t know where to turn, and neither did his wife – also a dear friend. With no guidance about his wishes we embarked on an enormous amount of research, decision making and soul searching to get it right, and deservedly so.

While we sent him off in great style, we might have done things differently if we’d had some more ‘difficult’ dinner party conversations together over the years about what we would like if the unimaginable happened.

We plan for our financial security, we write wills, but very few of us prepare for our death. While planning can be a valuable part of the grieving process for family, planning some aspects in advance can be very reassuring for those we leave behind. There will no ambiguity or worry in hindsight, and of course, it would be wonderful to include your next of kin or close friends in the service planning so they can take comfort in understanding the process and wishes expressed.

Why do you focus on preparing funerals for the living?

I will talk to you about yourself or the person we are preparing the service for and ask some questions about their life, how they lived it, and help to bring to the fore any stories to remember them by. I will also ask you if there’s anything you would particularly like to say to those that will be gathered at the service, and thoughtfully weave that into the ceremony.
