Your Wedding Ceremony

Congratulations! And welcome to the planning stages of your wedding day celebrations!

~ It really would be an honour and a privilege to be your wedding celebrant ~

Did you know… once the legal aspect of your marriage or civil partnership has been attended to, you are free to design your wedding ceremony? As your chosen wedding celebrant, I’ll be on hand to help you tell your story, fine tune all wedding day ceremony related proceedings, and help make your big day as memorable as possible – for all the right reasons! A truly one-of-a kind and celebratory occasion. Hurray!

That’s because with a celebrant-led wedding ceremony there are no rules. You can choose any special location and lead the way for the tone and style and content that suits you and your wishes.

Working closely together I'll make sure we create a wedding ceremony that is totally bespoke, full of memorable moments and personal touches that reflect you and your story.

From a simple exchange of vows and rings to a more symbolic ceremony including personal promises, poems, readings, music, and wonderful rituals without any restriction, I’ll help you every step of the way. We can even include your favourite tipple for a fabulous toast to you and your future with all your guests!

And…if you’d like me to stay on as your Wedding MC marshalling you and your guests until the first dance, I can do that too!

Sound good? I like to have fun and to encourage and create it - a giggle goes a long way in my book. But, importantly, I’m also unusually conscientious thanks to my background helping big brands and their brilliant people tell their stories. Now I bring all that experience to you and your story, and love what I do! In fact, it’s all I do. This is not a hobby or a side-hustle for me, so I’ve no distractions. Well, other than two teenagers and a goldendoodle.

Let’s have a discovery call about your hopes and plans for your big day, and turn them into reality. Exciting!

How it all happens

It’s important that you find the right wedding celebrant for you. After all, this will be one of the biggest moments of your life. To help with your decision, I’m very happy to have a no-obligation chat. We can discuss any thoughts you have around your ceremony plans and get to know each other a little to make sure the chemistry is right, and to check dates for availability.

Once we’re ‘official’ I’m all all yours! I don’t limit access, and relish nothing more than a catch up, be it a call, in person or on WhatsApp, so we can really get to know one another - and am also very happy to help offer any objective advice on non-ceremony related queries you might have too!

Let’s talk…

Like anything worth doing well, there is a little groundwork to do. I’ll set you some homework – a short questionnaire – and ideally, we would then arrange to meet in person at the ceremony location a few months ahead of the big day. When this isn’t possible, we can meet somewhere else convenient to you, or arrange a video call. This gives me the opportunity to learn more about you as a couple, hear your unique love story and help you to create your perfect day with a tailor-made ceremony that speaks to your past, present and your future.

Getting to know you…

This is where you can really personalise your day – and one of the joys of having a celebrant led celebration as the sky’s the limit!

From the reading of vows and ring exchange to hand-fasting, jump the broom, oathing stones and tree planting, rituals like these can really help define the moment and make your ceremony special. And they can be a lot of fun in the making and delivery of for you and me too.

So, how do you go about choosing the perfect one for your wedding? Have a look at these. If one or a few, or a variation on any of them are what you’re looking for, then together, we can make it happen. If none of them are quite your thing, then that’s fine too.

I’ll provide a first draft of the ceremony script well ahead of the big day, leaving time for a few tweaks if needed so it is exactly what you want. Then, my early wedding gift to you, is that you can cross the ceremony off your to-do list. Hurrah! And have peace of mind that this special part of the day is ready to be enjoyed. Roles assigned, readings agreed, music chosen, vows and rituals ready to look forward to. Tick, tick, tick.

When decisions have been made…

I love to have a phone call or a zoom a week before the day. This is a great opportunity to catch up with you and check through the ceremony one last time ‘for belt and braces’.

I also offer an optional rehearsal video-call, or an in-person dry run (perhaps with a steadying glass of something) at the venue. It’s optional because not everyone wants to rehearse, but you might take extra comfort in that. If so, your wish is my command.

Of course, if you’d prefer not to have the ceremony script in advance at all and are game for a big reveal on the day, then that is fine too. Exciting!

Catch-up...

Relax and enjoy! I will be excited to see you again and will arrive early to help calm any nerves and liaise with your venue manager and suppliers like musicians or the photographer, to ensure that your ceremony space is just right and that it runs smoothly. I also like to have a quick chat with others in your wedding party, such as the groomsmen, bridesmaids and anyone you have asked to do a reading.

It’s your day. Together we’ll make it wonderful.

Following the ceremony, I will slip off quietly after a quick check-in with you, so you can enjoy the rest of the day.

Or… if you would like, you can keep me on as an extra pair of hands to help oversee the Wedding Breakfast announcements as your Wedding MC - Master of Ceremonies. That would be your speaker intros, cake cutting and the first dance among other things!

On the day...

Remember to book the registrar to make it all legal and official. A wedding celebrant – that’s me – cannot officially marry you, whereas a registrar can. A marriage certificate must be obtained from your local registrar prior to your celebration ceremony. Don’t forget…

Finally…

You can have your Wedding Ceremony wherever you want if it is led by a Celebrant.

A Registrar will not marry you outside, unless it is approved in a licensed venue or unless you separate your legal ceremony from your celebration, as you would with us (this only applies to some councils). As with all council led ceremonies and regardless of where they are, there are particular limitations on the time, place and content of wedding ceremonies conducted by Registrars.

Although some Registrars call themselves Celebrants, Council ceremony content will only repeat legal statements about marriage and will not provide you with a bespoke, tailor-made ceremony.

All a bit confusing? Don’t worry! Give me a call or check out my About pages for a little more information about the roles of Celebrants and Registrars.

Did you know…

You have a statutory right to complete your legal registration of marriage at a Registrar’s Office in a 2+2 Ceremony.

This is where you and your partner attend the office with two witnesses, make the basic statutory declarations and sign your marriage certificate.

After that I will be honoured and able to declare you married at your wedding day celebration, wherever that might be – the fun part!

…If the Register Office attempts to persuade you to have more than the basic statutory registration, just remind them of your right to have the 2+2 Ceremony.

…And, what’s great is that venues, licensed or not, really don’t mind what type of ceremony you have - they will be thrilled to host you either way. Hurray!

Kind words…

"10/10 – The Perfect Celebrant!  From the moment we met Suzi, we knew our ceremony was in the best hands. Her warmth, professionalism, and genuine passion for what she does made the entire experience unforgettable. Suzi took the time to really get to know us as a couple, and it showed in every word she spoke during our ceremony. It was personal, heartfelt, and beautifully delivered.
Suzi brought the perfect balance of warmth, grace, and a lovely sense of humour that put everyone at ease.

We had countless guests comment on how moving and unique our ceremony was – all thanks to Suzi’s incredible ability to tell our story with sincerity and joy. If you’re looking for a wedding celebrant who truly cares and will go above and beyond to make your day special, Suzi is the one."

"Suzi is fantastic at what she does and as a general human. She gave us so much freedom with what seemed like a really daunting task (planning a wedding ceremony) in addition to making it fun and bringing it back to what it’s all about instead of stressing. Suzi got to know us and spent time chatting to us, even offering to help us on decisions outside of her job description! We couldn’t be happier with our decision to have Suzi help us to celebrate our marriage and would do it all over again!

Thank you so much Suzi, everyone was raving about what a fantastic job you did (even into the early hours of the morning!!) Everyone had so many wonderful things to say about you after the wedding, it truly was just so, so perfect."
